5 helpful hints for Raising Finances



1. Ask God to show you specific people to personally invite to partner with you, as you enter into your season in missions. Whether it is short term for a YWAM course or for a longer time as a staff member, it is vital to have a group of partners to support you financially, prayerfully & with phone calls, emails & press releases.



2. Meet with a representative from your local church. It can be your pastor, small group leader, youth group leader, or mentor. If possible, it is important to have your local church commission you into this new season. Have lots of clear open communication with your local church – before, during & after your YWAM experience.



3. A great tool for communicating what God is doing in your life, financial & prayer needs during your time in YWAM is to set up a blog or website. There are a lot of good examples of long term YWAM missionaries successfully using websites.



4.Run a Fundraising Event like a dessert night or dinner before you begin your YWAM adventure into missions. This is a great way of catching up with people before you leave, whilst telling them what you will be doing & why, & giving people an opportunity to give financially to you.



5.Remember the whole time you are in YWAM it is important to keep in communication with your support networks. Skype, Newsletters, & Emails are all great ways to communicate, but postcards & sending things in the post can also be a special blessing to our friends & family back at home that are financially & prayerfully supporting your ministry.
