A Daring Family’s Trek To Help Their Sick Baby | YWAM DTS Outreach

By YWAM Newcastle on August 10, 2016 in Discipleship Training Schools, Outreach, Ships Ministry

The last day we stayed at our first location in Papua New Guinea, a family came with their sick baby to the YWAM ship to ask for help. The baby had been ill for more than 6 weeks. It was a miracle that he was still alive because, at only 9 months old and without having had any medical treatment before, his body couldn’t fight against his illnesses.

The parents had been praying for their son for a very long time before they heard from friends that there was a medical ship on Long Island. Even though they lived in another village a whole day’s walk away from where we anchored, they made the journey to see us. They stayed at the beach overnight so they could come in the next morning to have their baby examined.

The ship was a sign of hope for them, proof that God had answered their prayers.

We gave the baby all the necessary medical care and prayed with the family. We told them about the God of Love- that he will answer their prayers for their child. There had been no chance of receiving healthcare on Long Island, yet that didn’t stop them from earnestly asking God for help.

Their strong faith showed us that we should never stop trusting God; He is faithful and provides for all our needs.
