Steppin’ Out Spotlight: The Commercial Kitchen

By YWAM Newcastle on June 17, 2017 in Steppin' Out Fundraiser 2017

Over the course of the next two weeks, we will be spotlighting the three main purposes for our fundraising. Our first spotlight is on the Commercial Kitchen we are putting in at our warehouse.

Why do we need a kitchen at the Warehouse?

COMMUNITY: Over the history of YWAM Newcastle, we’ve always prioritized community as a value. We gather together each night for family dinner no matter what our size! This has meant squeezing upwards of 175 people into our dining rooms. Moving the kitchen to a more central place serves our growing campus, increasing the feeling of ‘home’.

• IT IS CRITICAL: Next month, we are moving from our current accommodation, which we have lived in for 18 years, to a new building! As most of you would know, Lewis House has been where our main kitchen and dining room is. Once we are moved out, we lose that kitchen! It will be critical to have a new and improved kitchen and dining facility at the warehouse.

• YOUTH STREET: We’ve wanted to increase the quality of the food we offer on Saturday’s to give a good weekly family dinner to our crew. The new kitchen will give better facilities to cater meals for Youth Street.

• TRAINING: We are looking at expanding some of our DTS focuses to include hospitality skills. A commercial kitchen opens up new opportunities to train people.

We are really looking forward to this next crucial development to our growth and hope one day we could share a meal with you on our campus! Also, be sure to take a look at the video below to hear directly from our Food Services Manager, Niki.

P.S. We are introducing a new Devotional Corner into this campaign. Natalie Neubauer is a senior staff member with us who carries wonderful insights from the Lord. We’d love any feedback from the devotionals. We also want to join you in prayer for the things God is inviting you to step out in.
