We welcome high-school graduates, skilled tradesmen, industry professionals and YWAMer’s past and present to partner with us practically. Our Newcastle campus is growing rapidly and with the addition of the YWAM Tahlee campus and the ministry of YWAM Ships Newcastle, we are always in need of a variety of skills. Join with us as we get to know God and make Him known in the nations!

  • YWAM’s Mission Building program allows those who are wondering, “what’s next?”, to get a taste of a missions-centred community whilst serving with the gifts and skills God has given you.

    Volunteers live with us on-site and are invited to join us for all campus activities, including our weekly worship and prayer times. We hope that your time with us would be mutually beneficial as you serve practically whilst getting to know us (staff and students) and making the most of living in a thriving, Christian environment.

    Over the years we’ve had many people come through and help out with a variety of different projects. From preparing meals to landscaping to home renovations or remodelling a yacht, our work would not be possible without the help of our Mission Builders.

    Mission Building is also another great option for those who have just completed their Discipleship Training School and desire to grow more in knowing God and making Him known.

  • Our Ministry

  • YWAM is committed to making God known through training, mercy ministries and evangelism.

    At YWAM Newcastle this looks like running Discipleship Training Schools and further biblical training on a quarterly basis. Students are trained and equipped with tools to grow their relationship with God and others, as well as discovering what missions could look like in the areas God has called them to individually.

    For us to be effective in our ministry we need quality facilities for our staff, students and guests to live in and training rooms for our courses to take place. We need food on the table and water in the taps. We need qualified mariners and IT geniuses.

    So much goes into the running of our campus! We are thankful for our many staff and volunteers who serve faithfully behind the scenes so that others can be sent into the nations with the Good News.

  • There’s always something happening around our campuses and you’re welcome to jump in and help out at any time.

    We are often looking for people with the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, landscaping, marine, medical, cooking, hospitality, photography/videography, graphic design, communication and IT.

    Regardless of your skillset, we’d love to have you. Come and experience a different side of global missions and partner with us as we do our part to see the Great Commission fulfilled. Whether it’s an existing project or one you’d like to see happen, get in touch with us today to find out where you can serve.

Where will I be living?

We provide accommodation at our residence, Bulkirra House. Check out the “Life at YWAM Newcastle” page for details on our facilities.

When can I come?

Mission Builders are able to join us year-round, however, we do ask that volunteers commit to joining us for a minimum of 3 weeks and stay no longer than 3 months.

Australia is known for our hot summers (December – February) and mild winters (June – August). We are located on the east coast with several world-class beaches just a short drive or bus ride away.

What can I do with my spare time?

Your weekends are your own and there is always something to do in Newcastle. Catch some waves at the beach, visit one of the many local cafes nearby, see a movie at the cinema or visit the farmers’ markets. Sydney is only a two and a half-hour train ride away, which is ideal for a day trip to the city.

Will I get to see Australia?

You can travel before or after your time with us or, if you want to take some time partway through your stay, we can work that out too. Why not come and serve God in missions as well as seeing an amazing country?

Australia is a really big country with lots to see and do. Catch a show at the Sydney Opera House, snorkel the Great Barrier Reef or road-trip along the coast, stopping at some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Visit Melbourne (voted world’s most livable city 2011-2017), discover the beautiful Blue Mountains and enjoy a coffee at one of the many local cafes.
